Matthew TenBruggencate

Matthew TenBruggencate is a co-artistic head and a founding member of Theatre by the River, whose members he would gladly be marooned with on a desert island. Past acting credits include One Good Marriage, Habitat, Saint Joan, Two Gentlemen of Verona, The History of Theatre, Comedy of Errors, The Elfin Knight (TBTR) Cherry Docs, Talk (WJT) Stripped Down Romeo and Juliet (SIR) The Skriker, The Misadventurous Perils of Pauline(Echo Theatre) Troilus and Cressida, Measure for Measure (Tom-Tom) Love You Forever (PTE) The History of Manitoba, A Christmas Carol (MTC) and The Appleseed Girl (Sarasvati). Directing credits include Oedipus Rex, The Comedy of Errors (TBTR) and Desire Under the Elms (UWTSA - O'Neillfest).

Mel Marginet

Mel Marginet, a graduate of the Honours program at the UofW, is a co-founder/artistic head of Theatre by the River. She has performed in many theatre productions around the city. Favourites include: One Good Marriage, Saint Joan, The Bush Ladies, Oedipus Rex, Two Gentlemen of Verona, The History of Theatre (Theatre by the River), The Skriker (Echo Theatre), Ugly Ducks, Pretty Swans (Fringe 2006), A Midsummer Night's Dream (UofW) and Eternal O (Fringe 2005). See her on the screen in Absurd Machine's Aegri Somnia, as well as Randy Guest's The Lady in Grey. She's excited to appear this season on Less Than Kind.

Brent Hirose

Brent Hirose is a local, actor, writer, director and singer. His TBTR credits include Habitat, Two Gentlemen of Verona, Saint Joan and Billy Bishop Goes To War. Other credits include Bloodless (White Rabbit Productions), Arcadia (Theatre Incarnate), and Miss Saigon (Rainbow Stage). As a voice actor he has lent his talents to several projects, including Noonbory and the Super Seven, Kung Fu Dino Posse and Space Knights. He is currently writing several plays, including a new one-man show set to tour on the 2010 Fringe Festival circuit.

James Firby

James Firby is a graduate of the U of W theatre program (BAH) and is quite at home on stage. His acting roles include multiple roles in Saint Joan, Oedipus Rex and Two Gentlemen of Verona, One Last Thing at the Winnipeg Fringe Festival, Elfin Knight, Comedy of Errors and Churchillfest's Owners. He has crossed swords in the Manitoba Opera's Otello following his appearance in U of W's StoppardFest production of Enter A Free Man. In addition to performing, he is often delighted to be called upon for the design and creation of props, sets, posters and whatnot.

Derek Leenhouts

Derek Leenhouts is a local actor who has appeared with Theatre By The River in Oedipus Rex, The Two Gentlemen of Verona, and A Comedy of Errors; He was also the music director for Billy Bishop Goes To War. Other acting credits include Bloodless: The Trial of Burke and Hare (White Rabbit) Company, Assassins (Dry Cold), Pride and Prejudice (MTC), Paper Jack (Title Pending) The Full Monty (Rainbow Stage), Yeomen of the Guard (Wpg. G&S Soc.), and Lucrezia Borgia (CMTDG - Fringe 2007).

Rod Beilfuss

Since moving to Winnipeg from Brazil, in 2001, Rod Beilfuss has graduated from the University of Winnipeg with a B.A. Honours in Theatre & Film, and appeared in quite a few shows around this lovely town. Some of his most recent credits include The Merchant of Venice and Macbeth (Shakespeare in the Ruins), Comedy of Errors, Two Gentlemen of Verona, Saint Joan (TBTR), Winter's Tale (Tom-Tom Theatre) and the commedia dell'arte pieces Triumph of Love and The Mirror (Foolish Wit). Directorial projects include Resurrection Blues, Enter a Free Man and The Duck Variations (MTC Playwrights Festivals) and Billy Bishop Goes to War (TBTR). Rod also lends his voice to a couple of characters in the animated series Noonbory & the Super 7.

Megan Herkert

Megan Herkert has worked with the company on Habitat, Saint Joan, The Bush Ladies and The Two Gentlemen of Verona. In her final session of the University of Winnipeg's Honors Theatre and Film Program, Megan performed in The Glass Menagerie and King Lear. With an interest also in film and television, Megan has appeared in House Party, The Haunting in Connecticut and Less Than Kind.

Carolyn Gray

Carolyn Gray (guest artist - Habitat) is an actor, writer, designer, director, and puppeeter. A core member of Adhere and Deny Object Puppet Theatre for twelve years, she values independant theatre and the heroic spirit it takes to put on shows. It's her great pleasure to work on Habitat with TBTR

Arne MacPherson

Arne MacPherson (guest artist - Habitat) is a Winnipeg-based director and actor. Saskatchewan-born and Edmonton-bred, he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts (Acting) from the University of Alberta in 1985, and moved to Winnipeg in 1991. Arne’s work as a freelance director includes productions for MTC (The Threepenny Opera), SIR (Head, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Tempest, Much Ado About Nothing, Macbeth), TPM (Stretching Hide, Noble Savage, Savage Noble, Cruel and Unusual Punishment), PTE (Munscha Meeya,Little Munsch on the Prairie and others), and MTYP (Romeo and Juliet). Arne has worked as an actor extensively in Winnipeg. At MTC he played, among many other roles, the title role in Shakespeare’s Dog, which also had a run at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa. He has played many parts for SIR including Hamlet, Richard III, Mercutio, Malvolio, Antonio in The Merchant of Venice and others. Other highlights include Unity (1918), Fox, and InQuest (PTE), Encore and Prok (TPM) and November (WJT). At the 2009 Winnipeg Fringe festival, he performed with his partner Debbie Patterson and their two kids Gislina and Solmund in Patterson’s play Molotov Circus, which will be re-mounted for the Summerworks festival in Toronto this August. He is a member of the Curatorial Committee for Nuna(now), an Iceland/Canada Art Convergence, which will take place in Winnipeg and Gimli in May.

Debbie Patterson

Debbie Patterson (guest artist - Habitat) is a Winnipeg actor, playwright, director and musician. She is an alumnus of the National Theatre School of Canada and the former Artistic Director of the Popular Theatre Alliance of Manitoba. She is a founding member of Shakespeare in the Ruins and has been involved in most of SIR's productions, recently directing Taming of the Shrew. Favourite roles have included Titania, the Nurse in Romeo and Juliet, and Jenny in Threepenny Opera. Her musical Head, about the final days of Anne Boleyn was produced in 2006 by SIR to a completely sold out run. Her other plays include two one woman shows: Pandora's Squeezebox: a sex love power pleasure cabaret, and Wide Open Beaver: Uncut Canadian Content and Candy From a Baby, which she wrote for her husband and two children to perform and which won Best of the Fest at the 2006 Winnipeg Fringe. She lives in Winnipeg with her partner Arne MacPherson and their two children Gislina and Solmund

Natanielle Felicitas

Natanielle Felicitas (guest artist - Habitat) studied classical cello for 10 years in Edmonton , Alberta and has been involved with an eclectic range of theatrical, orchestral, and recording projects. A past member of the Edmonton Youth Orchestra, her notable theatre performances include: Fringe Theatre Adventures productions of Animal Farm and The 7th Circle (Edmonton), Eugene Stickland’s Queen Lear (10 Days of Madness Festival), and The Mooncusser’s Daughter (MTYP). She is also an original member of Edmonton ’s SFW Nose-Flute Ensemble. Since arriving in Winnipeg , she has shared the stage with many local and touring musicians. Natanielle is thrilled to be a part of Theatre by the River’s production of “Habitat”.

Kristin Jannssen

Kristin Jannssen (guest artist - Habitat) is currently seeking her hounors BA in Stage Management and Production at the University of Winnipeg. Her most recent stage management credits include Vinegar Tom (University of Winnipeg), No Bacon for Prom (PTE School Junior Company), and Honey and Jupiter (Sarasvati). She has worked worked with Prairie Theatre Exchange School for a number of years, and been involved in fringe festival and Femfest productions.

Michael Duggan

Michael Duggan (guest artist - Habitat, One Good Marriage, The Bush Ladies Tour) has been cutting his teeth around the city, working on independant theatre such as Sarasvati's production of Fen, as well as apprentice stage managing for The Barber of Seville (Manitoba Opera) and Steel Magnolias (MTC). Michael is finishing up his Bachelor of Arts with Honours at the University of Winnipeg, culminating as a senior carpenter on The Diary of Anne Frank. Catch more of his work when Michael's own company, Skyline Theatre, puts on Commedia! at this year's fringe.

Libid Zyla Harder

Libid Zyla Harder (guest artist - Habitat) Libid does an awful lot with very little; she has big plans for tiny spaces. Recently completed grand plans include lighting design for Moving Target's Remember the Night and set design for WJT's Betrayal and Cherry Docs. Libid is also the production manager for WJT and is designing the set for SIR's Merry Wives of Windsor. Libid holds a degree in theatre design by accident, and in history on purpose, from the University of Winnipeg.
